Betting firm Paddy Power have spent £10,000 sponsoring a confession box.
Bosses at the bookmaker say they made the odd move after they were contacted by fundraisers for a church in the racing town of Newmarket late last year.Officials from Our Lady & St Etheldreda church had asked if the firm would be interested in sponsoring an event to help pay for a new confession box.A representative from Paddy Power half-jokingly asked if they paid for the confession box could they put their name on it… they were shocked when the priest say yes.

The confession box is now covered with green curtains baring the Paddy Power logo and the words ‘Sin Bin’ on the outside and jockey Frankie Dettori was brought in to open it.
